that was the short awnser (above) long below
Component %
Nitrogen 78.084
Oxygen 20.946
Argon 0.934
Carbon Dioxide 0.033
Rare Gases 0.003
thus when you compress the volume of air the measured amount of Nitrogen goes up. this is a hold over from the early days of paintball, when CO2 was King Supreme. (as air source) but as things became faster the and the known limitations of CO2 (shoot to fast = liquid does not go to gas fast enough = shoot down/spikes = possible gun freeze) thus some marker makers pushed for Nitro/HPA. the rest is fairly obvious after that....
can you tell i dont want to go back to work.... |

hpa = High Presure Air , compressed air (+3000psi)
Nitro = HPA
back before most feilds had HPA fill technology at the field you would have to go to a dive shop to get an air fill. dive shops focus on 'air mixture' due to its effects on a user when underwater, it is also typicaly 79% nitrogen. thus paintballers nicknamed it nitro. (one could also take the slang nitro as referance to its ability to flow at higher rates and not become liquid... important when trying to obtain rates of fire over 7bps) |
